The room is well stocked with age appropriate resources such as construction, small world, mark making and role play, and is laid out to encourage the children to use each area fully and to move from one activity to another as their interest guides them. We provide lots of messy, sensory play such as painting, playdough, sand and water as well as other creative activities including cooking and music.
We work closely with parents to follow your child’s routine such as providing a separate sleep room for those children who still require a nap and helping with potty training and toileting.
The spacious, well equipped play areas are set out as workshops to provide learning opportunities in all the Early Years Foundation Stage areas of learning and development. Softer life skills such as dressing themselves, serving and clearing up after themselves at mealtimes, sharing and resolving conflict are taught are role modelled allowing the children to foster a sense of independence. Our highly qualified staff, led by Early Years Teachers, work closely with parents to develop high levels of emotional, social and physical well being in our children.
Exceptional, highly qualified staff with lots of experience use skilled interaction to extend the children’s learning through play.
Children of all ages in the nursery have the opportunity to experience trips and outings to local areas of interest such as the beach, farms, woods and local countryside. Please visit our photo gallery for recent examples.
Play is one of the main ways in which children learn. Through play children can develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally, and gain the self-confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments. Because it's fun, children often become very absorbed in what they are doing which in turn, helps them develop the ability to concentrate.
Visits to local areas of interest are a real highlight for the children and recent trips include Kingley Vale, Thorney Island beach and Lordington Lavender farm.
To aid the children's understanding of the world and to be involved in the local community, guests often come to talk to the children about their roles and how they help us. Recent visitors include a police officer, soldier and nurse. We also have external professional conduct classes such as music and dance.
